The Division III Convention was held in Calgary and hosted
by the Western Hospitality Singers and as always, was as much an event to gather
the barbershop singers from across Alberta as it was to have a contest to allow
choruses and quartets to gauge where they are at. Stampede City Chorus sang Tin
Roof Blues & Wink and a Smile for a combined score of 391, 8 points out of
first place. Trademark and Close Encounter also competed in the quartet contest
– Trademark will be representing Div III at the District Convention in Whistler
in October. Highlight of the Convention was the attendence by Bill Biffle,
Barbershop Harmony Society President, Kevin Kelly, Evergreen District President,
and others from Evergreen District – Kevin had mentioned to Bill that Division
III holds a unique convention that Bill should come see first hand – few other
conventions are held across N.America that have the kind of comradery that is
just expected as part of the experience in Division III. |
